Huadian Caofeidian is a core equipment manufacturing hub for Huadian Heavy Industries, one of China’s “Five Big” state-owned power generation groups. As the global energy transition accelerates, Huadian has positioned itself at the forefront of the Green Hydrogen sector.

The production of hydrogen electrolyzers—the heart of water electrolysis for hydrogen production—requires extreme mechanical precision. These units consist of multiple “electrode frames” (polar frames) and “end pressure plates” that must be stacked with millimeter-level accuracy to ensure gas tightness and electrical efficiency.

Technical Challenges

  • Variable Dimensions: Accommodating polar frames with diameters between 1840mm and 2000mm and end plates up to 3000mm.
  • Precision Control: Standard industrial lifts are often too fast or jerky. For electrolyzer stacking, a “dead-slow” adjustable speed was mandatory to prevent damage to expensive catalytic membranes.
  • Spatial Constraints: The equipment needed a significant travel height (6500mm) but had to retract to under 3 meters to accommodate specific factory clearance levels.
  • High Safety Standards: Given the industrial environment, rigorous safety features (guarding, synchronization, and emergency protocols) were non-negotiable.

Solution

  • Extreme Speed Control: Equipped with a frequency inverter and synchronous motors, allowing for an ultra-low adjustable speed of 0-3m/min. This “inching” capability ensures perfect alignment during stacking.
  • Heavy-Duty Stability: A 3-ton load capacity supported by high-strength rectangular tubes (120604) and a 4mm checkered plate platform, ensuring zero deflection under load.
  • Premium Hydraulic System: Integrated world-class components, including Rexroth pumps and cylinders, Atos valves, and a synchronous motor to ensure all four columns rise in perfect unison.
  • Advanced Safety Integration:
    • 1600mm high full-mesh guard and a 1200mm guardrail with integrated safety rope hooks.
    • “Opening Power-off” protection: The machine automatically stops if the safety gate is opened.
    • Comprehensive Identification: All oil pipes and cables are riveted with durable identification tags for easy maintenance and troubleshooting.
