Industrial Lift for Air Treatment & Manufacturing Plants

Overview

This project involved the customized deployment of a high-rise vertical logistics solution for a leading international manufacturer specializing in industrial air purification and waste gas treatment systems.

To address the critical need for moving large system components between production floors, we supplied a heavy-duty guided lift platform with a 5-ton capacity and an exceptional lift height of 17.1 meters.

Designed as the core of an automated material flow, the system integrates rapid-door isolation and a built-in AGV interlock module, creating a seamless and intelligent transfer hub that connects three production levels, optimizing workflow and supporting lean manufacturing principles.

Challenge

  • Engineering for Extreme Height: Achieving stable and precise vertical movement over a 17.1-meter travel with a 5-ton load required an engineered structural solution to prevent deflection and ensure safety.
  • Integration into Automated Logistics: The system was not standalone. It required native integration capability with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to enable hands-off transfer, demanding advanced control interface design from the outset.
  • Containment and Access Control: The lift shaft connects three active production floors, necessitating a reliable method to isolate each level for safety, climate control, and noise management without creating a bottleneck in material flow.
  • Fast-Track Deployment: A critical project timeline required complete design, manufacturing, and delivery within a compressed schedule, demanding exceptional project management and modular design.

Workflow

  1. An AGV delivers a palletized component to the lift on the ground floor and sends an automated call signal.
  2. The corresponding rapid door opens, the platform levels, and the AGV deposits the load.
  3. Upon command, the platform lifts the component at a controlled speed to the target production floor (2 or 3).
  4. The door on the destination floor opens, and another AGV or workstation retrieves the component for the next assembly step.
  5. The cycle repeats, enabling continuous, scheduled material flow with minimal manual intervention.

Solutions

  • Tower-Grade Structural Design: A 4-cylinder, 8-column configuration with reinforced guide rails provides the necessary rigidity for high-altitude lifting, ensuring reliable performance.
  • Smart Control Ready for Industry 4.0: The heart of the system is a Siemens PLC pre-equipped with an AGV communication interface. This “ready-to-connect” design allows for straightforward integration into existing or planned automated material transport networks.
  • High-Speed Door Isolation System: Installing hard rapid roll-up doors at each opening solves the isolation challenge. Their fast operation minimizes wait time, maintaining workflow efficiency while ensuring safety and environmental separation between floors.
  • Modular Execution for Fast Delivery: Utilizing a pre-engineered, modular approach allowed for concurrent fabrication and streamlined on-site assembly. This methodology was key to meeting the aggressive project deadline without compromising on quality or specifications.
