30-Ton Electric RGV for Foundries | Heavy-Duty Material Handling Solution | Laser-Protected Rail Transport Vehicle
Overview
This 30-ton RGV (Rail Guided Vehicle) electric rail transport vehicle is specifically engineered for heavy-duty industrial environments such as foundries.
Utilizing a battery-powered drive system and rail guidance technology, it ensures stable transportation of heavy castings, molds, and other materials under demanding workshop conditions.
With its remote control operation and dual laser safety protection system, it effectively addresses the inefficiencies, safety hazards, and high labor intensity associated with traditional material handling methods (such as forklifts and overhead cranes) in the foundry industry, providing enterprises with an intelligent and reliable logistics solution.

How It Works
The system employs two parallel 5-ton capacity reciprocating lifts.
Finished carbon blocks are conveyed onto the lift car (2200x2200mm) via customer-supplied roller lines.
Photoelectric sensors detect the load, triggering a 22KW SEW gearmotor to lift the cargo vertically 5 meters at speeds up to 20 m/min.
After precise positioning, the blocks are discharged into the adjacent workshop, enabling fully automated, rapid inter-floor transportation.
Advantages
- Heavy-Duty Design & Stable Operation
- The vehicle body uses a high-strength steel structure (e.g., channel steel [22] frame) with precision-machined key surfaces to prevent deformation under a 30-ton load.
- 8-wheel or more load-bearing design (referencing heavy-duty AGV experience) enhances stability, supplemented by independent drive axles and guidance wheel systems to prevent derailment and deviation.
- Intelligence & Flexible Scheduling
- Beyond basic standalone automatic control, the RGV can be integrated into a workshop-wide Flexible Dynamic Scheduling System. It utilizes algorithms like the adjacency matrix for task allocation and path planning, enabling coordinated operation of multiple RGVs to avoid congestion and improve overall logistics efficiency.
- Combined with auxiliary equipment like electric turntables, it can form complex rail networks (e.g., “field” character shape), significantly enhancing system flexibility to adapt to the variable process flows in foundry workshops.
- Comprehensive Safety Protection System
- Active Safety: Dual laser scanners at the front and rear of the vehicle create non-contact safety detection zones, triggering immediate stops upon obstacle detection.
- Passive Safety: Equipped with physical anti-collision devices (e.g., buffer blocks) and emergency braking with self-locking functionality.
- System Safety: The electrical system complies with IP protection ratings, includes overload and leakage protection; the platform is surrounded by safety warnings and audio-visual alarms.
- Harsh Environment Adaptability
- Designed to operate in foundry workshop temperatures ranging from -5°C to +45°C and humidity ≤95%RH.
- Key components (e.g., motors, sensors) can be specified with higher protection ratings to resist dust and moisture.
- Maintenance-free batteries coupled with automatic charging systems ensure 24/7 continuous operation.
